Dunstable Swimming Club got the 1st leg of the National Arena League 2017 off to a fantastic start with a great 5th place position in their West Midlands Division 2 gala following promotion in 2016. Held at the Droitwich Leisure Centre on 14th October 2017, DSC swimmers were on good form. Swimming against some really excellent teams, this was a massive step up for DSC, but they worked hard all evening and all produced some excellent results.
Competing against Shrewsbury, Stratford Sharks, Witney & District, Wyre Forest and Cheltenham, DSC were against some very tough competition. DSC did not disappoint, and the whole squad worked really hard all night with the relays in particular being tremendously exciting to spectate.
The atmosphere poolside was very much alive, and certainly the support from DSC parents did not disappoint!
The points at the end of this 1st round gala were as follows;
1st place – Cheltenham – 211
2nd place – Stratford Sharks – 191
3rd place – Witney & District – 188
4th place – Wyre Forest – 171
5th place – Dunstable – 168
6th place – Shrewsbury – 115
Overall Dunstable achieved a 5th place position, achieving 7 1st place positions, 10 2nd place positions and 8 3rd place.
DSC also celebrated some excellent new PB’s. Swimmers of the gala went to Ruby Collins and Millie Dudley who both made outstanding contributions to the gala.
Thank you to all DSC swimmers that competed and did their best, for what is a high profile event. Thank you also to the organisers and supporters that make this event so well organised with over 10,000 swimmers competing all across the country on the same night!
DSC look forward to competing in the 2nd round of NASL on Saturday November 11th 2017, where DSC will be travelling to Worcester!
