When one thinks of collectable cars, an image is immediately conjured to mind; a majestic vehicle with a shining paint job, at once powerful and astonishingly delicate. The kind of vehicles that one likes to admire from a distance, but is perhaps too scared to approach, lest the paint be somehow scratched, and a pant-wettingly large bill be handed over.
That is to say; collectable cards have a reputation for being exorbitantly expensive. But this isn’t necessarily always true. There are indeed many collectible cars that will sell for many millions. But then, there are also a few collectible cars that are perhaps a bit more affordable, at least for now.
It turns out that some models of collectible car are a bit more reasonably prices, but probably because they are just beginning to fall into the collectible category. If wanting to snag such a vehicle, for personal pleasure or as an investment, this would be the perfect time to do it. 1970–1973 Datsun 240Z
Known for being one of few Japanese sports cars that found mass popularity in the United States, the Datsun 240Z, or Z as it is often called, looks impressive, and performs as well as it looks. It can crack 0 – 60 in an impressive 7.8 seconds, and has a not too shabby top speed of 125 mph. There is little to not like about this beauty of a car, and if you’re assuming that is will cost an arm and a leg, you’d be wrong. The Z is available for a very reasonable price, but probably won’t be for much longer. A perfect vehicle for those who are looking to test the waters in the world of car collecting.
1969–1970 Ford Mustang Mach 1 428 Cobra Jet
Often entirely overlooked simply because it is a Ford, and not a Shelby, the Mach 1 is an extraordinary piece of motor engineering, with technical specifications that are enough to make one salivate at the mouth. Plus, of course, she looks so good one would not feel silly rolling up to the flashiest casinos on the world in one. Either way, the Mach 1 might not be as affordable as a Datsun z, but is still very undervalued.
1964–1970 Pontiac GTO
Pontiac may no longer be around, but the value of Pontiac cars is still very much worth sitting up and taking notice of. The GTO is regarded as a defining model for the muscle car era, which is not something to take lightly. Even so, the Pontiac GTO is remarkably affordable given its iconic status, and is not only a current best seller, but also likely to gain significant value in the coming years. Check it out, before it becomes un-affordable.
